It’s been a while since my last trip with my family. During Chinese New Year, I have decided and aimed for cheap flight ticket to Thailand, ideally to Bangkok (BKK).
I’ve started to track the flight ticket on Google Flight and managed to get MYR371 return tickets just right before 2 week Chinese New Year.
How to use Google Flight Search?
Select the destination and dates you plan to go. Google will alert you whenever there is a change in the price via email. Watch video guideline:

DAY 1:
Prior to reaching BKK, I have pre-booked a sim card via Klook and just collect the sim card at DTAC counter @the airport and collect the sim card.
Once it’s done, just book a grab car and straight to the hotel to check in. I’ve booked the budget hotel Ten Stars Hotel in Pratunam Market. It’s a basic and simple hotel, and it’s inclusive the breakfast and basic amenities.
Besides budgeted hotel, If you are planning to have an luxury trip in Thailand and staying in the luxury accommodation, here is the link for your reference: Villa in Thailand
Why Book a Villa
Villa is one of the best places to stay in Thailand. For those who like to travel in style, they must be surprised to the villa offered in this country.
All the villas here is well equipped with furniture, kitchen facilities and other amenities that can make your vacation hustle free and even more relaxing. It is available all day and you can find it just one click away.
Since we arrived Bangkok in the evening time, we spent our first night at Pratunam market for window shopping and had a simple dinner as Day 2 would be a full day tour for us.
DAY 2:
The second day was a full day tour with KLOOK Thailand Floating Markets Day Tour –Sign Up Klook Tour
Package Details as below:
Tips: Remember to bring the cap/hat to avoid the sun heat, and snacks and enough water the journey (Klook does provide small mineral water once you get on the van/ bus).
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
It took almost 2 hours to reach Damnoen Saduak Floating Market from Bangkok downtown. Due to the Chinese New Year season, we have almost waited for 1 hour just to get on an electric boat (for another 60 minutes ride). As mentioned in Klook website, Damnoen Saduak is the biggest and most famous floating market in Bangkok. You get to see the local people living and doing business along with the floating market.
You will get some free time to explore the market area and enjoy a lunch break here.
Wat Bang Kung and Thai Boxing Temple
The next stop would be a quick stop of visiting both Wat Bang Kung and Thai Boxing Temple which was not far away from Damnoen Saduak Floating Market.
Maeklong Railway Market
In the late afternoon time, we have arrived at Maeklong Railway Market. This is a unique market where the stalls were right next to the railway.
As mentioned in Klook website:
It offers a unique shopping experience that is interrupted by a train regularly running right through the market space! Watching the tracks go from being completely covered in market stalls, to the shop owners pulling in their wares before setting up all over again in a matter of seconds is a true sight to behold!
Right over the crowded market, we got to experience and took about 20 minutes train and passed by Maeklong Railway Market again (this time we were on the train instead).
Once the train stopped at the next stop, we met our tour guide and headed to another floating market: Amphawa Floating Market.
Amphawa Floating Market
Amphawa Floating Market was my favorite place on this tour. It was easy to walk around and there have many nice and cheap stuff to buy here.
In the late evening, we got on a 1-hour boat trip [again] to see the fireflies.
It was a full day-long trip, tour guides were trying their best to arrange the best arrangement for us during the peak holiday season.
I would recommend taking the tour and overall was worth the experience.
Day 3:
Pratunam Shopping Day
After a long day tour yesterday, the third day we chose to explore around Pratunam area: Central World, Platinum Fashion Mall, Big C Superstore, Erawan Shrine.
In the evening time, we have decided to check out the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun. We were just passed by Grand Palace and Wat Pho, instead, we took the 5 minutes ferry ride across the river from Wat Pho (fare is only 4 THB per ride)
The best time to visit Wat Arun is in the early morning before the crowds. However, during the sunset, it’s absolutely stunning when the lights up at late evening time.
From Wat Arun, take the river express to Saphan Thaksin, and from there take the FREE shuttle boat down to Asiatique (the boat runs daily from 17:00 to 23:00)
I got to meet again Joseph, my BJJ friend in Bangkok. Special thanks to him to hang out with me during my 3 weeks time in BKK . Happy to see you again 🙂
The last stop was at Red Sky Bar which located at Central World. There is no entrance fee and the drink starts from 300THB which I think it’s a good experience to get to enjoy Bangkok top view.
Day 4:
Last day in BKK, we continued our shopping spirit and do the last minute shopping at Chatuchak Market.
This is definitely our favorite shopping spot in Bangkok as the stuff here was cheap, nice and quality was good too. You get to shop the clothing starting from 60 THB onward.
Conclusion: This was my 5th time back to BKK and I still never get bored with this city. Every time I got to experience different things in this happening city. Will I go back again? Yes without hesitation.
Despite there were some conflicts/disagreement during this trip, I believed we have created some good memories in BKK and looking forward to having more family trip in the near future.
